The Position:

As a Product Technician (Hardware/Software/Cloud) at RIGID ROBOTICS, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence and reliability of our mining-grade IoT hardware/software products. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, from conducting rigorous quality assurance and product testing to actively participating in the batch manufacturing process. You will not only be involved in testing the final products but also in stage-gating technical/development releases, contributing valuable feedback to enhance product development. Reporting directly to the Product Success Lead, you will delve into hardware, software and cloud systems and will ensure that each product iteration adheres to our high-quality standards, maintaining RIGID ROBOTICS’ reputation as a
leader in innovative mining solution provider.

Responsibilities:

  • Master Production Procedures: Learn, understand, and execute production procedures for IoT devices, including PCB stack assembly, mechanical assembly, and final inspection to ensure high quality manufacturing standards.
  • Conduct Sophisticated Quality Control: Assist in performing quality control checks on advanced IoT devices, meticulously document the outcomes, and report findings to both supervisors and the R&D team for continuous product improvement.
  • Oversee Packaging and Shipping: Initially assist, and eventually take a leading role in the packaging and shipping of a diverse range of products, from compact IoT devices to larger mechanical assemblies, ensuring safe and secure delivery.
  • Collaborate on System Optimization: Work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical and electrical systems, enhancing product efficiency and reliability.
  • Execute Comprehensive Testing: Participate in and assist with conducting essential tests, including vibration, thermal, and ingress testing, on both critical production units and R&D prototypes to validate product durability and functionality.
  • Produce Engineering Documentation: Help in creating detailed engineering documentation, including reports and drawings, to ensure accurate and clear communication of design and manufacturing specifications.
  • Enhance Product Quality through Feedback: Use insights gained from quality control and testing activities to provide actionable feedback to the R&D team, aiding in the iterative improvement of products.
  • Ensure Compliance with Standards: Actively ensure that all manufacturing and testing processes comply with relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards, maintaining the company’s reputation for high-quality products.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process and product enhancements based on hands-on experiences and testing results.
  • Maintain Testing and Quality Assurance Equipment: Ensure the proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of all equipment used in testing and quality assurance to uphold the integrity of testing processes.

What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Technical Skills and Hands-on Experience: Skilled in mechanical and electrical systems, testing, product assembly, and PCB stack assembly. Demonstrated ability to comprehend production flow and execute high-quality device assembly.
  • Quality Control Expertise: Experience with quality control procedures and a high attention to detail, enabling the detection of issues or bugs during the hardware and software QC process.
  • Engineering Collaboration and Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive team environment. Eagerness to learn from coworkers and apply new knowledge to practical applications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to team members.
  • Packaging and Shipping Knowledge: Familiarity with the packaging and shipping processes for various products, ensuring safe and secure delivery.
  • Testing Proficiency: Experience in performing critical electrical and mechanical testing on production units and research and development prototypes.
  • Documentation Skills: Competency in creating detailed engineering documentation, including reports and drawings.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying and resolving manufacturing or product quality issues.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to new technologies, processes, and developments in a dynamic, innovative environment.
  • Safety and Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of and adherence to relevant safety and regulatory standards in electronic and mechanical manufacturing.
